How Deep is Your Love?

Theories of romantic love vary, but each has one element in common, love is stronger than like. In essence, most love affairs entail undeniable attraction, liking evolved to longing for, and an unquenchable for intimacy.

To know love does not always mean that you understand love. In fact, the old saying, “love is complicated” rings true. No matter how brilliant a person is, the possibility of choosing who to love defies logic, possibility, or reason.

The Bee Gees wrote a song titled, “How Deep is Your Love.” The lyrics suggest that true love is deeper than infatuation. Another thing, many lovers find themselves questioning the depth of love as it relates to their own personal relationship. Perhaps this is because even if you’ve never been in love before, you know how it feels to be unloved, a casual acquaintance of somebody you’d rather be much more to.

Romantic love encompasses a plethora of emotions that can include, but not limited to: passion, lust friendship, heightened emotion,  jealousy, insecurity, tenderness, heartache, yearning, devotedness, and even envy. Mature lovers understand all to well how love can go wrong, become something it wasn’t, and even cause one pain.

Yearning…“I know your eyes in the morning sun
I feel you touch me in the pouring rain
And the moment that you wander far from me
I want to feel you in my arms again” Bee Gees

Some people are better at loving than others. My step-mom used to say that some women are so good they are no good to themselves or anybody else. When I became a mature woman I understood what she meant. She was not being negative in any way. She was basically trying to tell me that it doesn’t take all that to get or keep a man who really loves you.

Being no good to yourself means giving another person so much of you that there’s not enough left in

My song pick for today is “How Deep is Your Love,” because it provokes the listener to evaluate, and examine, while coming face to face with the color of love. Love is a rainbow of colors, from bright to light, to dark. Bright colors represent the honeymoon period, when lovers are blinded by love.

Are you in a relationship that makes you want to ask, “How Deep is Your Love?”

How Deep Is Your Love
I know your eyes in the morning sun
I feel you touch me in the pouring rain
And the moment that you wander far from me
I want to feel you in my arms again
And you come to me on a summer breeze
Keep me warm in your love, then you softly leave
And it’s me you need to show
How deep is your love, how deep is your love
How deep is your love?
I really mean to learn
‘Cause we’re living in a world of fools
Breaking us down when they all should let us be
We belong to you and me
I believe in you
You know the door to my very soul
You’re the light in my deepest, darkest hour
You’re my savior when I fall
And you may not think I care for you
When you know down inside that I really do
And it’s me you need to show
How deep is your love, how deep is your love
How deep

What's on your heart?
